Westerville Student Ministries exists to provide an environment where students come to KNOW Jesus, GROW deeper by studying the Bible and CONNECTING with other believers, SHOW others what they know to be the truth, and GO out to the world sharing what they know to be the truth.
In striving to meet this goal, we offer many programs and activities where students can get to know other students, have fun, and grow closer to God. Our goal is to make disciples and help students make their faith their own, so that if/when they leave our ministry and their home, they will be standing on their own faith and not the faith of others. Below is an overview of our weekly ministries:
The Awakening: The Awakening is the backbone of Westerville Student Ministries. This serves as our main youth service. The Awakening takes place every Sunday night during the school year from 6:00-8:00 PM. At 6:00, all Jr. High and High School students meet in the Student Center for a chance to hang out with friends by playing some Ping-Pong, Air Hockey, Cornhole, X-Box, or just sitting and enjoying each other's company. You will also be able to go down to the gym and play basketball or whatever else. Snacks and drinks will be available for a small charge. At 7:00, both groups come together in The Arena for a time of live worship, a challenging message, and small group discussion. The Awakening will prove to be a much needed boost to start off your week.
Student Bible Fellowship: On Sunday mornings, students get a chance to touch base with each other and dive into God's Word through our Sunday morning classes. Students are encouraged to worship at the 9:00 service and then attend class at 10:30. Jr. High students meet in rooms 131-132, and High School students meet in the Student Center at 10:30. This is a great way to connect with other students, grab a donut, and learn how the Bible connects with their lives today.
D-Groups (Discipleship Groups): D-Groups exist so that students can grow closer to God in the context of small groups through accountability, study, and mentoring. These groups will meet one day a week throughout the school year in homes of a group member or the leader. These groups require a high commitment level and are not to be taken lightly. Attendance is crucial for the success of the group. D-Groups consist of 4-6 students and 1 or 2 adults. Most High School D-Groups will meet on Monday - Thursday. Jr. High D-Groups will also meet once a week.
